Research Experiences
The Influence of Age on Pain Care in Tanzanian Hospitals
Principal Investigator (PI): Dr. Adrienne Strong, UF
March 2024- April 2026
From May to July 2024, I conducted field research in Iringa, Tanzania as part of an NSF-funded Medical Anthropology project led by Dr. Adrienne Strong. The project explored how pain is experienced and managed across different communities, with a focus on generational differences in pain care. I used ethnographic methods including participant observation, semi-structured interviews, free-listing, and rank-ordering to better understand how older adults navigate pain management and healthcare barriers in everyday life. More information about this project can be found in the research tab.
Dr. Strong and I currently have an advanced book contract regarding conducting social science research at the undergraduate level and three working papers regarding this research.
Poster presentations were presented at the UF Research Symposium (April 2025) and American Anthropological Association Annual Meeting (Nov 2025).
My honors thesis, which received summa cum laude designation, can be found at https://ufdc.ufl.edu/collections/ufhonors.
